Ruby & Baxter's Dog Park

We are very excited to have Ruby & Baxter's brand new dog park installed in our very own backyard.  Our big summer addition is now complete and we couldn't be happier.

Jeff & I accomplished step #1 last week, which was to remove the old, split-rail fence (pictured below) and trim back the corner pine tree in preparation for the fence installation.  I was surprised how easily the old fence was disassembled.  We actually were able to completely remove the fence in just under two hours.  Jeff & I also did our best to mark the sprinkler heads and pipes in our yard.  Marking the sprinkler heads consisted of us running the system in one minute increments as Jeff ran around the yard getting sprayed, but accurately finding the spigots.  We were a bit disappointed to see how much piping was run along the property line.  Not a smart installation move, but also not much we can do to move it right now.
Step #2 was to have the 4x4 cedar posts cemented into the ground around the yard.  We choose Premiere Fencing to do the installation of our fence for us.  A crew of two men showed up at 7:15am on Monday, marked off the property lines, calculated where the posts should be placed and started hand-digging the holes.  The corners were dug first, followed by the rest of the posts.  Unfortunately, it started to rain two hours into the job and work had to stop for the day before they were cemented into place.  The crew came back out bright and early the next day to finish the job.
Step #3 is where the whole project comes to life.  A team of three men arrived on Wednesday to install the cross-beams and the paneling.  They worked from 7:30am until 2:00pm hammering boards on one side of the fence and then coming back to hammer in the back side.  They also built the doors on site and hand cut the scallop look into the fence.  It turned out amazing and the dogs love having their very own dog park in the back yard!
