Time to Catch Up

Okay, so two weeks was a little off for how often I planned to post a new blog. Here is my attempt to catch up and get back on track.

On June 2nd, Jeff and I closed on our new home. The move went extremely smooth and we were even sleeping in our new home by June 7th. Even though we were both excited to get into the new house and start unpacking and organizing, we were also in need of a break. Thankfully our honeymoon started on Tuesday, June 10th. We flew off to Orlando and spent a few days at DisneyWorld before meeting up with family and spending the last few days in Clearwater. More info about our Florida trip will be available soon on the www.nicolehagen.com website under the vacation button. For those of you who can't wait, check out our Florida pics at www.nicolehagen.com/florida2008. We had an awesome time, as you can tell by all the huge smiles and laughter in the pictures. :o)

After getting back from a much-needed vacation, Jeff and I are now focused completely on the house. Our first task was to install a ceiling fan in the master bedroom and a couple new outdoor lights outside of the 3-season sun porch. We also completed our first big project: painting the upper bathroom and hallway. For some reason, bathrooms are always my favorite rooms to decorate so I couldn't wait to start. It took us only one weekend to paint and purchase new coordinates. Jeff also put together a great 4-cube cabinet that works perfect in the bathroom and provides us with extra storage.

Our next big project is picking out coordinating colors for the remainder of the upper level walls. It is amazing how mathematical picking out a color palate can be. I had no idea all of the rules that exist with the color wheel. It is quite over-whelming, but Jeff is a fantastic partner in the process. After going back and forth many times we now have several cans of paint waiting to be tried out. I have to admit that the hardest color we are having trouble picking out is the neutral. What looks good to our eyes and what looks good next to our woodwork is two different things. I'm sure many pictures will be posted soon on this blog to show our progress.

Last, I want to take this opportunity to say congratulations to my dear friend Eliz who just had her little baby girl yesterday, July 2nd at 9:33am. Her name is Addison Joelle Barat and she is the cutest munchkin I have ever seen. More baby news is soon to come as Leah is now overdue, Melissa is due any day now, and Kristin is not far off. I am just so happy for all of my friends. Please keep the pictures coming!
