Jeff has spent quite a bit of time on Angie’s List researching color consultants, painting companies, and landscape designers. Only those with the top ratings across the categories have made it onto our short list of possible contractors. It is now time for me to take the list and start narrowing it down. I have created a tracking spreadsheet (surprise, surprise) to keep us organized and to record notes on each of the contractors. I have several calls out to landscape designers and have narrowed my color consultant down to one person. We are holding off on painters until we have our color palette established for the house, fence, deck, stairs, trim and mulch.
Jeff has now mowed the lawn twice and Tru-Green has been out to spray the yard twice as well. For the safety of Ruby & Baxter, we are not having Tru-Green spray in the fenced-in areas. Therefore, I am taking on the task of plucking dandelions from that area of the yard myself. There has not been too many to deal with because the fence keeps the seeds from spreading from our neighbors’ yards into ours. The woodpeckers are causing an issue to our wood siding, and we’ll have to figure out something to keep them away very soon. I’m also dealing with the issue of our lawn spreading into the mulched beds and will need to look into purchasing an edger to keep those lines more defined.
I did make a trip to Linder’s to get flowers for our rectangular pots near the front windows and porch (picture below). I decided to do a mixture of verbena, snapdragons, and dusty miller in shades of burgundy, white and yellow to brighten up the area. I was hoping to also purchase my vincas and zinnias for the pots in the backyard, but Linder’s was temporarily out of stock on both of them due to their not being grown enough for sale. I’ll wait another week and see what comes in – no need to rush on those.
