Family Room Project: Mission Accomplished!

As the family room project comes to a close, I wanted to post a few “before and after” pictures for all to see the progress we made. The project began in mid-February 2009 and took us approximately 3-1/2 months to complete. We did not rush, and took several breaks for hockey finals, high school ultimate, Spring outdoor projects, and fun with friends and family. The goal of the project was to create a lighter and brighter space to relax and unwind in.

The key accomplishments of the project were:
o Replacing the floor, shelf, and decorative moulding.
o Installing crown moulding and painting our existing window moulding white.
o Painting the walls a blend of Devine’s Silver and Skyline.

It took us four tries, but we also chose Silver as the color for our lower level hallway.
o Hiding the entertainment wires behind the wall, out of view, and purchasing a new entertainment center to hold our components.
o Painting the bar cabinet black to match the rest of the furniture in the back of the room.
o Installing blinds and having curtains altered (thanks Mom!) to fit our windows.
o Painting the lower level bathroom Devine’s Skyline and installing new, matching floor moulding.
o Adding new decorative pieces around the room (thanks Mom & Dad for the B-day gifts!) to match the accent color in the curtains.

Whew! It has been a lot of work, but very rewarding to invest so much of our time into our home. As we hit our one year anniversary in our new home last week, we are very proud of all the progress we have made in just one year.
