Happy Halloween!

Jeff and I are very excited for our first Halloween at the new house tomorrow night. In previous years, we have not done much to celebrate Halloween as we would only receive one (if we were lucky) trick-or-treater in the old neighborhood. However, this year our neighbors gave us advance notice to expect around 50 trick-or-treaters coming through our new neighborhood. It works out so well that Halloween falls on a Friday night and I'm hoping to leave work a bit early to get home before the kids start to arrive.

Ruby is all ready to put on her Wonder Woman costume and greet the kids at the door. I purchased a second bag of candy yesterday in preparation for all the kids. Somehow, the first bag of candy mysteriously disappeared over the past couple of weeks. Jeff and I both claim we have no idea how it disappeared. Spooky! ;o)

This was also the first year that Jeff and I have carved pumpkins together. We had a blast last night choosing designs and working as a team to make our pumpkins ready for Halloween. My role was to cut open the pumpkins and clean out the guts - ensuring we saved the seeds and scrapped as far down as possible. Jeff's role was to take a small nail and pin-prick the design into the face of the pumpkin. Then, since Jeff is definitely the patient one of the family, Jeff cut out two great designs. One pumpkin was a traditional jack-o-lantern face and the second pumpkin was a very creative cut-out of a dog's face. Ruby's role was to supervise. As you can see from the picture, she takes her job very seriously.

We're very happy with our results and have deemed this year's pumpkin carving a success! We celebrated by enjoying some tasty salted pumpkin seeds. We hope that all of our friends and family have a very safe and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Love the Jack o'Lanterns!!! Did you ever let lil ole RooRoo remove her head from the pumpkin? or is she now running around Roseville as a Welsh version of the Headless Horseman? :)

Love,
